Share buybacks are the cash a company spent during the year repurchasing its own stock, taken from the financing section of the cash-flow statement. Most companies buy back nothing at all — the line is absent rather than zero — so this ranking covers the minority that do. Figures are for fiscal year 2025 and are read directly from each company's SEC filings; the source column on every row links to the document.
Johnson Controls International (JCI) tops the list with $6.0B in share buybacks for fiscal 2025, ahead of Accenture ($4.6B) and Eaton ($1.9B). The top 10 together report $19.6B in share buybacks; the gap between #1 and #10 is ×18.72. 16 companies in Ireland report share buybacks, 0.9% of the 1853-filer universe. The last place on the list, Amarin, comes in at $194,000.
