Companies in Canada that buy back the most stock
Share buybacks are the cash a company spent during the year repurchasing its own stock, taken from the financing section of the cash-flow statement. Most companies buy back nothing at all — the line is absent rather than zero — so this ranking covers the minority that do. Figures are for fiscal year 2025 and are read directly from each company's SEC filings; the source column on every row links to the document.
Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CP) tops the list with $2.8B in share buybacks for fiscal 2025, ahead of Imperial Oil ($2.3B) and Suncor Energy ($2.2B). The top 10 together report $17.0B in share buybacks; the gap between #1 and #10 is ×2.72. 51 companies in Canada report share buybacks, 2.8% of the 1853-filer universe. The last place on the list, Terrascend, comes in at $410,000.
